The Best NBA Matchup of This Week
Feb 9, 2026
This week of NBA action has tons of games with playoff implications, new player intrigue, and hopefully some strong performances in anticipation of All-Star weekend. But which game is the best of the week? Let’s take a look at some of the top games.
Honorable Mention:
Philadelphia 76ers vs New York Knicks (Wednesday, ESPN)
This is a classic Eastern Conference rivalry that is still relevant. The Sixers are starting the week only 3.5 games back from the Celtics for the 3rd seed in the East. Both teams are defying the early-season expectations, and it could be their stars being healthy away from deep playoff runs. Not to mention, this game features the two starting guards from the Eastern Conference All-Stars.

Game of the Week:
Los Angeles Lakers vs San Antonio Spurs (Tuesday, NBA TV)
Both these teams are surging of late, and both are looking to land a top seed in the Western Conference standings. Add the star appeal of Luka Doncic, LeBron James, and Victor Wembanyama, and you know you’re going to have a classic. The Lakers are starting their week on a 3-game winning streak, and the Spurs are starting theirs with four straight. This will be a battle of two of the best teams in the West.
The Spurs have solidified themselves as legitimate title contenders, and the Lakers have probably slid down the NBA title odds list. That being said, there is still a lot of season left to see how the Western Conference hierarchy. This game could be an indicator of who is going to survive the bloodbath that will be the Western Conference playoff race.
