NBA Insider Contemplates Where LeBron Could Play Next Season

Is LeBron James going to retire as a Laker? Before the Luka Doncic trade, it seemed like there was a good chance that LeBron would end his career in Los Angeles, but now everything has changed. LeBron is no longer the focal point of the Lakers organization, and the Lakers may not want to sign him to another big contract while they really need role players to fit around Luka.

LeBron might also want to end his career somewhere else. Recently, NBA insider Brian Windhorst listed a few possible teams that James could join this summer.

"Cleveland is one of them. I'm not sure I'd put the Heat on the list. Golden State, depending on how things go, would be one. There's a place of two that I won't say right now that I'm keeping my eye on… I have a team or two that I think he could consider going to, and I have researched the concept, and I will continue to keep my eye on the concept…" If LeBron is determined to make the most money, it will probably not be with the Lakers. But Pathway 2 is to stay with the Lakers for less money. How much less? A lot of variables we don't know yet."

If LeBron went to any of the teams that Windhorst has mentioned, it would be huge news. Obviously, going back to Cleveland or Miami would be a big deal. However, it is also somewhat expected.

If LeBron went to Golden State, though, that would shock everyone. He’s long had a rivalry with Stephen Curry and the Warriors, and although now he seemingly is friendly with Curry and besties with Draymond, this would still be a wild decision.
