Magic Johnson Weighs in on the NBA's GOAT Debates And Names His GOAT

The debate over who is the greatest player in NBA history has been raging since the league began, and in recent years, it's only kept heating up. First it was the likes of Bill Russell and Wilt Chamberlain, then came Magic and Larry before Jordan, and ultimately now with LeBron James.

With so many fans across the globe, opinions differ on who the G.O.A.T truly is, with so many big name analysts and former NBA players offering their opinions. In a recent interview, one of the best of all-time in Magic Johnson offered his opinion, and given what we know about his career, his answer shouldn't be surprising.

“It would have to be Michael Jordan. Then LeBron and Kareem.”

While opinions differ, for the most part, many believe the top two are James and Jordan, and in his comments, Johnson agrees with that, naming Michael Jordan as his GOAT. Closely behind him, Magic has both LeBron and his teammate Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who was the highest scorer in NBA history until recently when he was passed by James.

At the end of the day, many believe that this is just a generational thing, as plenty of people that never saw MJ play believe James to be the greatest player the league has ever seen. As a result, this belief from Johnson shouldn't be surprising, as he went up against prime Jordan, even being defeated by him in MJ's first trip to the NBA Finals, but even with his opinion, the debate will continue to rage on.
