Jayson Tatum Opens Up on the Difficulty Of Rehabbing His First Major Injury

After a 2024 NBA Championship, the Boston Celtics looked primed and ready to do it all again in 2025, but unfortunately things went wrong in the second round. Not only did they fall to the rival New York Knicks, but they lost superstar Jayson Tatum to an achilles injury, one that will likely keep him out for most, if not all of the new season.

This is the first major injury of Tatum's career, and in the wake of it, the Celtics have made some very intriguing moves as they look to build for his likely return in 2026/27. For now though, the superstar forward is simply working to get back to 100%, and now he's addressed the first few months of his injury rehab, and it clearly hasn't been easy for him.

“That first 6 weeks was probably the toughest six weeks of any point in my life."

As any professional athlete that sustains an injury like this can tell you, the first part of the recovery is always the toughest, and given that this was the first major injury of his career, this doesn't come as any surprise.

Still, the recovery process is reportedly going well, with some scouts that have seen Tatum saying he is recovering quicker than most they've ever seen from this particular injury. Whether or not that means we see him in 2025/26 for Boston, only time will tell, but through the toughest phase of his career, it's hopeful that he can come back stronger than ever.
