2024 No. 2 Overall Pick Alex Sarr To Miss Remainder of EuroBasket With Injury

The EuroBasket tournament currently taking place features some of the biggest and best players in the NBA representing their home nations in what has been a fantastic tournament thus far. While this is great to get them prepared for the upcoming season, there's always the risk of injury, and unfortunately now one of the league's brightest young players has suffered an injury.

According to recent reports, France's Alex Sarr missed the team's last game due to a calf muscle injury. Unfortunately, he has now officially been ruled out for the remainder of the tournament, meaning that France will be without one of their top players moving forward.

In reports, the severity of the injury has not officially been revealed, meaning that there's still a chance he may not be at 100% when the Washington Wizards 2025/26 regular season schedule begins in October.

Last year, Sarr was the No. 2 overall pick of the Wizards, and after a slow start, he managed to adapt to the NBA game well, finding his footing as the season rolled on. In 67 games played, Sarr averaged a solid 13 points, 7 boards, 2 assist and 1 steal per game, and given his length and talent, he's going to be a star of the future.

Unfortunately, this injury could play a role in his sophomore season in the NBA, but even if he does miss some time, it's safe to say that the 20-year old could be the star the Wizards have been searching for over the past few years.
