Kawhi Leonard Reportedly Looking To Limit His Load Management Next Season
Aug 29, 2025
Kawhi Leonard has established himself as one of the NBA's best players, but in previous years, he's taken criticism for his load management. That load management appears to have taken over the NBA, but given Leonard's injury history, it makes sense that the LA Clippers want to play it safe.
In his five years with the Clippers, Leonard has played over 55 games on just one occasion, and after just 37 a season ago, there were concerns over his future at the NBA level.
Now, at 34-years of age, according to Head Coach Ty Lue, the veteran superstar is pushing to limit his load management moving forward, although the medical team have some significant reservations.
According to Lue, he and Robert Frank along with the medical team are trying to protect him from himself to keep him healthy for when the post-season comes around. Last season, Leonard played in just 37 games with the team, and as he gets older, it makes sense for the team to keep him out as much as possible to save his best play for the end of the season.

Even with all of his injuries, Leonard remains incredibly productive, averaging 22 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists last season, and with the Clippers loading up this off-season, they believe they're genuine contenders.
Only time will tell whether or not that's the truth, and while their superstar leader wants to play more, the team will continue to protect him from himself as they look to finally live up to expectations and make a deep NBA Playoffs run.
