Jose Alvarado Addresses His All-Star Break Plans After Arriving In New York
Feb 12, 2026
The New York Knicks weren't very active at the 2026 NBA trade deadline, but they did make two very good moves, acquiring guard Jose Alvarado from the New Orleans Pelicans for several second-round draft picks. Already, Alvarado has made an immediate impact in New York, helping them to the win on Wednesday night by putting up 26 points, 4 assists and 5 steals in just 19 minutes of action against the Philadelphia 76ers.
With the All-Star break upcoming, many players will take that weekend to get away from the action and take a break from the rigours and the 24/7 pressure of an NBA season. Alvarado however won't be doing that, as he recently revealed that he's going to use this time to lock in in his new home, as he will be spending his time locked in at the Knicks practice facility.
“No break for me. I’m going to try to stay here and get a lot of reps in.”
This is par for the course for a player like Alvarado, who may not have the physical tools or the natural ability of others, but instead, relies on his relentless play and his aggression to get the job done on the floor.

On paper, Alvarado is a major game changer for this Knicks team off the bench, and given how dedicated he's proving himself to be already, he's going to become a very popular player for those fans at Madison Square Garden as the team chase an NBA title.
