Former Warriors Star Calls Draymond "King" of Dirty Players
Jan 27, 2026
Draymond Green is always going to have his name in some NBA drama. He came into the league with an attitude that helped him become one of the best defenders in NBA history. Still, despite winning the Defensive Player of the Year award, having four NBA championships, and being selected to four All-Star games, Draymond will always be a controversial NBA figure.

Much of this is because Draymond is an instigator. Draymond’s antics helped give the Warriors a much-needed edge, but he also didn’t make any friends with the way he played. Some people even labeled him as a “dirty” player.
Draymond recently spoke about how some European players are dirty and specifically called out Pelle Larsson.
This didn’t sit well with a former Warriors star. Gilbert Arenas responded to Draymond’s comments, saying, “I can see where he said he’s not dirty, and the Europeans are on the little things. It’s the little elbows to the stomach, little clippings, hits in the back for no reason. Little things the refs don’t see that happen… Europeans are not innocent types of players. You have to remember where they’re playing. In their country, the fire is in the stands and all that. They do little things. Look, it makes sense, Draymond; when he puts the belt to a**, it’s always against the Euros… Most of us would rather have whatever Larsson does than what Draymond does because his dirty actually hurts. Draymond is the anti-European slayer. There is a highlight reel of Draymond being dirty. You can only be a dirty player to get a highlight of it. If there was a King of being dirty, Draymond would inherit that kingdom.”
Arenas is known for exaggerating things, but there are probably a lot of people around the NBA who would agree with this take. Draymond certainly isn’t innocent, and he’s probably the last guy that should be calling anyone “dirty.”
