Celtics Star Jayson Tatum Reportedly Considering Foregoing A Return To The NBA This Season

Last year in the NBA Playoffs, Jayson Tatum went down with a brutal injury, one that many expected would keep him from appearing for the Boston Celtics in the 2025–26 regular season. However, following a speedy start to his recovery, Tatum declared he was looking to return during the season, eyeing the last month of the season for a potential return.

That was one that shocked many around the NBA, but according to anyone who had seen him work out following his injury, this wasn't out of the realm of possibility. Unfortunately, things have seemingly changed in recent times, and now, according to reports, Tatum is weighing up the possibility of skipping a return in 2025–26, instead potentially focusing on getting back to 100% for next season.

According to NBA reporter Chris Haynes, a final decision from Tatum is yet to be made, and as of right now, no one quite knows which way the Celtics superstar is leaning. Without Tatum, the Celtics are still thriving, as they currently occupy the second seed in the Eastern Conference, with some believing that Tatum should focus on getting healthy, as the belief is this current team could make some noise without him.

Ultimately, Tatum has a long career ahead of him in the NBA, so his decision can't be a short-sighted one, but whichever way he decides to go, the Celtics will no doubt be in 100% support of their superstar.
