Young Warriors Star Set To Demand Massive New Contract This Summer
Mar 17, 2026
The Golden State Warriors put together one of the NBA's best dynasties in the 2010's, coming away with four Championships behind the core trio of Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green. Around that trio, they had immense talent with the likes of Andre Iguodala and Kevin Durant among others, but in recent years, the team have struggled to develop young talent.
One player that they have seen some potential in is Brandin Podziemski, and at 23-years of age, many see him as a key piece of the organization whenever Curry eventually heads into retirement. As of right now, the former No. 19 overall pick has his rookie contract running through the 2026/27 season, but with a key summer upcoming, reports are that he's interested in a new deal.
Not only that, but he's looking to get paid in a big way, as recent reports have revealed that he's looking to get a bigger deal than Moses Moody's three-year, $39 million contract.
"I don’t know if Podziemski’s worth much more than the three-year, $39-million deal that Moody got in October 2024, but I’m positive that he will want more. I also am relatively sure that the Warriors won’t want to pay Podziemski anything near the $123 million they paid Jordan Poole in October 2022."
Through three years, Podz is averaging 11 points, 4 assists and 5 rebounds per game, and while the Warriors likely want to lock him up long-term, they've made that mistake before and likely won't want to repeat it.

Ultimately, he may be worth it one day, but as of right now, he's not taken the leap that may force Golden State to lock him up, so expect this to be a very interesting situation moving forward.
