Top Western Conference Contender Reportedly Checked In On Ja Morant
Nov 11, 2025
While the Memphis Grizzlies have had some success under Ja Morant's leadership over the past five years, there appear to be some major cracks forming in the organization. This season, there have been reports that Morant and Head Coach Tuomas Iisalo don't even talk during games anymore, and with the team battling uphill in a loaded Western Conference, it has led to plenty of speculation.
As of right now, there's been nothing official from Morant's camp, but given the rising tensions and the struggles of this team sitting at 4-7 through 11 games, many believe it's a matter of when, not if, the star point guard requests a trade.
If that happens, Morant has been linked to several top contenders, including Houston, Los Angeles, and Miami, but now, a new report reveals a top Western Conference contender has touched base with Memphis on a potential trade.
According to reports, the Minnesota Timberwolves have checked in on the situation with Morant and the Grizzlies, seemingly with the aim of pairing him with the star trio of Anthony Edwards, Julius Randle, and Rudy Gobert.

As of right now, it's unclear how those conversations between Memphis and Minnesota went, but to this point, we know that the Grizzlies’ front office isn't actively shopping their star point guard. Ultimately, if things continue to go this way, it's likely to end with a split, and if that happens, Minnesota is set to be aggressive in acquiring the former No. 2 overall pick.
