NBA Insiders Discuss Ja Morant Trade Idea That Could Shake Up the League

Could Ja Morant be on the trade market? Despite comments from the Memphis Grizzlies that they are committed to building a competitive team around him and Jaren Jackson Jr., the vibes in Memphis are saying something different.

Since getting into it with his head coach and his subsequent one-game suspension, Morant has not been playing well. Is he quietly quitting while hoping to be traded to a better situation?

NBA pundit Bill Simmons spoke about a trade he believes could work to get Morant off the Grizzlies. “It’s Miami and Memphis. You send Ja to Miami. You put KCP in the deal. Memphis takes back Herro and Rozier, and you just call it a day. And Memphis basically turns Ja into Herro and Rozier’s expiring. Miami has to take on an extra year of KCP. They get Ja, they roll the dice that Ja can be turned into a superstar again.”

Many have floated the idea of Morant joining the Heat in a trade. The Heat don’t really have a point guard, and they are always on the list of teams that are in the mix to trade for a superstar.

The Heat also have the culture and discipline to potentially get Morant back on the right track. After having some attitude and off-court issues in the past, many teams will be nervous about trading for a player like Morant. With the Heat’s track record, they could be the ideal team to turn things around.

However, will the Grizzlies want a package that is basically centered around just Tyler Herro? Morant has shown that he can be a superstar-level player. Herro has never reached those heights. Things would have to get pretty desperate in Memphis for them to make this trade.
