Former Mavericks Forward Predicts Team Will Trade 4-Time NBA Champion
Nov 12, 2025
The Dallas Mavericks could be on the brink of a fire sale. Their season seems to be going in the wrong direction, and with the firing of their general manager, Nico Harrison, many expect there to be more moves on the horizon.
Does that mean the Mavericks could trade a ton of their key pieces? Absolutely. The question is, who will be the first domino to fall?
Former Maverick and now talking head on Run it Back on FanDuel TV, Chandler Parsons, gave his prediction on what will happen next for the Dallas Mavericks.
“Klay Thompson—out of there. Traded. I think he’ll be the first one to go—not that he’s the problem—but teams like the Orlando Magic need shooting. He makes sense for someone like that. I think there’s going to be a domino effect with a lot of moving parts. But at the end of the day, there is light at the end of the tunnel, and it’s 18-year-old Cooper Flagg. That’s something to look forward to, something to rebuild around.”

When Klay joined the Mavericks, the team looked very different. They were coming off an NBA Finals appearance, and Luka Dončić looked like he would be leading the team for years to come. Now he is off the team, and the Mavericks look closer to a lottery appearance than another NBA Finals appearance.
Klay also just never found his rhythm in Dallas. With so many changes happening, he wasn’t able to find his groove and is currently in the middle of his worst season ever.
That’s why it makes sense for Klay to get dealt. He is meant to be a role player on a playoff contender, not a limited bench scorer on a lottery team. Both the Mavericks and Klay would benefit from finding a trade that works for both sides.
