Rival Teams Are Officially Monitoring This Superstar's Availability on the Trade Market
Nov 12, 2025
The Dallas Mavericks are making some major changes. They just fired Nico Harrison, their much-hated GM, and now people are expecting the Mavericks to make more moves after a very disappointing start to the season.
Evan Sidery of Forbes reported, “Rival teams are now monitoring the Mavericks to see if they make Anthony Davis and Kyrie Irving available in trade talks before February’s deadline.
In a historically loaded 2026 NBA Draft, Dallas may pivot to bottoming out around Cooper Flagg and their future top selection.”
NBA Insider Zach Lowe also reported on his podcast, “There's going to be Anthony Davis trade talks of some seriousness. Whether they result in a deal or not is impossible to say. I would bet on yes.”
All signs are pointing to the possibility of Anthony Davis getting traded just months after joining the Mavericks. A trade like this would further stamp the unfortunate truth that the Luka Dončić trade was an utter disaster for a franchise that was recently knocking on the door of another NBA championship.

Even though it would be a major step backward, trading Davis is the best thing the Mavericks can do at the moment.
With Cooper Flagg on the roster, the Mavericks should be aiming to compete in the next few years, not right now. They have tons of older veterans on the roster that could command some real value on the trade market, Davis obviously being the most valuable.
In reality, Davis and Flagg are on completely different timelines. Davis won’t really be able to help Flagg blossom into a star, and Flagg won’t really be able to help Davis compete for a title ASAP.
That’s why everyone is buying the Anthony Davis trade rumors. With Nico Harrison gone, Davis could be the next big Mavericks piece on the move.
