NBA Reporter Reveals Panic Within the League Over Kawhi Leonard Report
Sep 3, 2025
Early on Wednesday, journalist Pablo Torre dropped a shocking report involving Kawhi Leonard, one that could change the NBA. In his report, Torre revealed that Leonard was paid $28 million for a 'no-show' job by a tree planting company, one that happened to be heavily invested in by Clippers owner Steve Ballmer.
The move was reportedly so the Clippers could 'circumvent the salary cap', and it has been making waves on social media throughout the day.
Now, Torre has followed that up with more comments, revealing that there is major panic within the NBA at the moment, as they had no knowledge of the deal involving Leonard.
"From the NBA perspective, what I've been told this morning is that it's a bit of panic over there. They did not know about this deal between Steve Ballmer, or at the very least between Aspiration and Kawhi Leonard with the influence of Steve"
The panic within the NBA is no doubt understandable, as a journalist just revealed that one of their players may have been paid $28 million under the table to play for the team. There's been no comment yet from Adam Silver or the league, and given how groundbreaking the report from Torre was, it's unlikely we'll hear from them soon.
Instead, it's more likely than not that the NBA will conduct their own investigation into Ballmer, the Clippers and Leonard, with the league potentially having to punish the organization if they indeed find there was wrongdoing.
