76ers Rising Star Jared McCain Provides Injury Update Ahead of Training Camp
Sep 3, 2025
Last season, Jared McCain was the hottest rookie in the NBA, as he started off his career on the right foot with the Philadelphia 76ers. The No. 16 overall pick averaged an impressive 15 points, 2 rebounds and 3 assists early in his career, but his rookie campaign came to an end after just 23 games.
That was a result of a season ending knee injury, and after a long off-season, many were hoping he'd be back to 100% before training camp. The talented 21-year old has now provided an update on his situation ahead of training camp, revealing that he's on track to return for the 76ers before the season begins.
"Yeah, my plan, for sure, is to participate. I mean, anything can happen, but for right now, I'm on pace, and I'm doing great for that."
This is fantastic news for the Sixers, who have added plenty of young talent around McCain, with the team hoping they can bounce back from a tough 2024/25 campaign. With McCain, the Sixers backcourt now includes Tyrese Maxey, Quentin Grimes, Kyle Lowry and V.J. Edgecome, with the future now looking incredibly bright.

Last season, McCain showed promised with not just his play but his efficiency as well, shooting 38% from three early in the year, and given how likeable he is, he's a key piece for Philadelphia's future. Now, the hope will be that he can get back to 100% early in the year for the Sixers as they look to compete in a beaten up Eastern Conference in 2025/26.
