Milwaukee Bucks Likely To Waive Former Second-Round Pick Andre Jackson Jr.

The Milwaukee Bucks have made many changes this off-season thus far, with the team starting things hot as they waived former star point guard Damian Lillard. After that, the team added Myles Turner to give them some rim protection and shooting to replace Brook Lopez, and now, they've brought back a familiar face.

Recently, the team announced that they had signed Thanasis Antetokounmpo once again, but to get that deal done, the team may need to figure out a way to clear up some salary cap space. According to Brett Siegel, that may mean the team end up waiving former second-round pick Andre Jackson Jr., who the team seemingly once had high hopes for.

“While the team has believed in his potential, the 23-year-old was on the trade block before last season's trade deadline, league sources told ClutchPoints. The Bucks were seeking two second-round picks in a trade for Jackson, but they never received an offer including more than one second-round pick…Since other organizations know that the Bucks need to clear a roster spot, it will be virtually impossible for them to receive value in return for a player like Jackson or another minimum-contract-like player. That is why Jackson is a potential player who could be waived by the Bucks after signing Antetokounmpo.”

Despite looking to trade Jackson, the market just never appeared for the Bucks, and with the team looking to give themselves some flexibility heading into the 2025/26 season, it's likely that they waive Jackson in the coming weeks.
