Lou Williams Reveals What Led To The Clippers Letting Go of Chris Paul
Dec 3, 2025
On Wednesday, just months after a reunion with veteran Chris Paul, the Los Angeles Clippers shocked the NBA world when they parted ways with the 40-year-old point guard. This comes amidst the Clippers' horror start to the season, as they are just 5–16 on the season despite many seeing them as a potential NBA Playoffs threat coming into the 2025–26 campaign.
In that time, Paul has appeared in just 16 games, averaging 3 points, two rebounds, and three assists, as it became clear he can no longer play at a high level. However, that's not why the Clippers parted ways with him, at least according to former Clippers teammate turned podcaster Lou Williams.
According to the former Sixth Man of the Year, CP3 was very critical behind the scenes of the players, coaches, and the front office, with the latter clearly getting fed up with him before they made this move. At 5–16, those criticisms from Paul, who has been to the NBA Finals and played in 1,370 regular-season games in his career, were likely valid, with the Clippers not wanting to come to terms with the organizational failure that this roster is.

Ultimately, it's unclear if this is the end of Paul's career in the NBA, but given his struggles on the floor this season, all signs are pointing that way, so now we wait and see whether he finds a new team for the 2025–26 season or whether this was it for the “point god.”
