Philadelphia 76ers Fined For Incorrectly Reporting Joel Embiid's Injury
Dec 3, 2025
The Philadelphia 76ers have dealt with plenty surrounding Joel Embiid throughout his NBA career, with the constant injuries seeing the potential of the organization ebb and flow. In 2025–26, he's been relatively healthy, despite appearing in just 7 of the team's 20 games to this point, but without a serious injury, the team is hoping he can get through the season and be healthy when it matters the most.
Now, however, there's been drama around Embiid and his health, as the NBA has fined the organization $100,000 for misreporting a recent Embiid injury.
According to ESPN's Shams Charania, the fine comes from a November 30 game where Embiid was listed as OUT, before later in the day that was changed for him to play against the Atlanta Hawks. Unfortunately, once a player is officially declared OUT for a game, that cannot be changed, and as a result, the team was heavily fined for the situation.

In those 20 games this season, the Sixers are sitting at 11–9, and with Embiid healthy, that record sits at 4–3, and with the breakout of Tyrese Maxey in the backcourt, this team could be very dangerous come playoff time. However, all of that depends on Embiid's health, but if he's finally able to stay healthy, this team may be built so perfectly around him that they could be a chance to finally go deep in the NBA Playoffs for the first time in Embiid's NBA career.
