LeBron James Reveals That He's Not Quite Ready To Retire Yet

After passing 40 years of age, the clock is ticking on LeBron James' iconic NBA career, with many believing the time to call it quits is potentially near. However, James himself hasn't given any indication as to how long he'll play in the league, as he's already accomplished the amazing goal of playing with his son in the league.

He does have another son heading to college soon, giving him the chance to potentially play with another son, and if that is indeed his goal, he's got at least two years left. We don't quite know yet if he's determined to play with Bryce as well, and now, he's officially addressed retirement for the first time in quite some time.

When asked about it, James revealed that retirement is coming, but hinted that he's playing on for now, stating that it's not quite here yet.

“Retirement is coming. It is coming. It’s just not here just yet.”

By the end of the 2025/26 season, James will be 41-years-old and will have over 1,750 NBA games under his belt, along with pre-season and international play, and no matter how good a condition he is in, that's bound to catch up to him eventually.

Ultimately, though, he's still incredibly effective, averaging 24, 8, and 8 a season ago for the Lakers, so while we don't know how long he's got left, it appears as though he's not given much genuine thought to retirement as of yet.
