Killian Hayes Rejects Overseas Deals; Focusing On The NBA
Aug 14, 2025
Back in the 2020 NBA Draft, talented point guard Killian Hayes was drafted with the No. 7 overall pick by the Detroit Pistons. Unfortunately, Hayes struggled for much of his NBA career, and after it became clear that Cade Cunningham and Jaden Ivey were the future of the organization, they quickly parted ways with Hayes.
He spent the 2024/25 season with the Brooklyn Nets, but unfortunately, in 216 NBA games thus far, the 24-year-old has averaged just 8 points on 38% shooting from the field. With just six games played last season, many feared his NBA career could be over for now, and unsurprisingly, he's been fielding offers from Europe as a result.
However, according to EuroHoops, Hayes has turned down those offers, with his sole focus being on the NBA and finding a permanent role in the league moving forward.
In those six games with Brooklyn, Hayes showed some improvement, averaging 9 points on 42% from the field, but with so many inconsistencies early in his career, we've yet to see him be a significant contributor.

As the 2025/26 NBA season draws nearer, it may be a chance for Hayes to find a way into training camp with a team, but if that doesn't happen, the interest from overseas may be too good to turn down. For now, though, he's focused on the NBA, and with the clear talent to be drafted No. 7 overall in the NBA Draft, he simply needs to find himself, and there will be opportunities for him to finally find a spot in the NBA.
