Durant Reflects on Passing Michael Jordan on the All-Time Scoring List

Kevin Durant continues to etch his name into the history books. He already has a league MVP, two NBA championships, and multiple scoring titles on his resume, but that hasn’t stopped him from adding to the list.

Durant added to his accolades over the weekend by passing Michael Jordan on the all-time scoring list. He has now scored the fifth most points in NBA history.

Durant spoke about this accomplishment and what it means to him to pass a legend like Michael Jordan.

“He’s not the leader in points, but his imprint, his impact on the game is so big that it’s always historical even coming close to what he’s done on the basketball court in any type of form. So to be close in points, it’s a true honor. I mean, it’s a test to longevity and loving the game, the stuff that MJ portrayed every day. And that’s what usually what gets you into these places is when you work on your craft religiously and love the game. So that what I took mostly from a lot of these greats that I’ve been able to watch, play against, play with, just how much they love the game.”

This has always been Durant’s tune. He’s a pure hooper who is in love and obsessed with basketball. He is solely focused on perfecting his craft and loves being recognized for the hard work he’s put in. Now that he is starting to climb the all-time scoring list, it’s becoming pretty apparent that all that hard work and focus has paid off.
