Cam Thomas Addresses The Potential Of Changing His Game In Brooklyn This Season
Oct 13, 2025
Cam Thomas has always had potential, and in 2024–25, he emerged as one of the best young scorers in the entire NBA. In 25 games, Thomas averaged a career high 25 points a night, and coming into the summer as a restricted free agent, he was hoping for a big deal.
Unfortunately, that didn't quite pay off, as the Nets seemingly don't see him as a long-term piece, with the two parties settling on a one-year qualifying offer. On the back of no long-term deal, there have been question marks over Thomas' playstyle, something that he was asked about heading into the new season.
Unsurprisingly, Thomas is sticking to what brought him to the NBA in the first place, stating that he has no reason to change the way he plays.
“No, I’m just going to play my game.”
Around Thomas in Brooklyn, there is very little elite-level talent, and with him and Michael Porter Jr., two of the most confident shot makers in the NBA, it's easy to see why Thomas wants to stick to his game.

Given that Thomas has carved out a niche as a fantastic iso-scorer in the NBA and still has time to grow and develop his game, there's a reason why he doesn't want to force himself to become something he's not. Ultimately, though, there's less and less room in today's NBA for inefficient iso-scoring, so perhaps Thomas can naturally develop as a playmaker, but for now, he's not going to force it.
