Three Contenders Linked To Roman Sorokin After Strong Performance At EuroBasket
Sep 10, 2025
The EuroBasket 2025 tournament has been one of the best in recent memory, and while so many NBA stars are shining for their respective countries, they aren't the only ones. One of the big standouts of the tournament has been 29-year old Roman Sorkin of Israel, who has played well in six games in the tournament.
In that time, the power forward averaged 17 points and 6 boards a night, with the 6-10 former Oregon Ducks star showing that he's capable of matching up against some of the best in the world. Now, he's reportedly drawing plenty of attention from NBA teams, with Ian Begley reporting that three teams have interest in signing the 29-year old.
According to Begley, the New York Knicks, Miami Heat and Portland Trail Blazers have all looked into signing Sorkin, and with depth needed up front, it could be a worthwhile signing. Last season for Maccabi Tel Aviv, Sorkin averaged 13 points, 6 boards and 2 assists in 24 minutes per night, and likely if he is to join the NBA, it would be on a minimum deal to play a key depth role.
It's unclear if he wants to leave his current deal, but if he has dreams of playing in the NBA, this could be a way to get that career started. Ultimately, he has the size and the potential, and while he wouldn't be a genuine role player for any of those teams, if given the chance, he could be great depth, so don't be surprised to see him make the move ahead of training camp.
