Cam Thomas Signs One-Year Qualifying Offer To Return to Brooklyn

This off-season in the NBA has been one of contract drama, with one of the biggest names involved being Brooklyn Nets rising star Cam Thomas. The young guard believes he is worth the same as other talented guards in the league, but the Nets didn't seem to agree, as the two parties couldn't come together on a long-term extension.

Now, things have finally been resolved, as Thomas has officially signed a one-year qualifying offer with the team that will see him paid $6 million in 2025/26 after months of negotiations with the team.

What that does mean for Thomas' future in Brooklyn is that he will become an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2026, with any team around the league free to sign the scoring guard. However, NetsDaily have now revealed that may not have been the best course of action for Thomas, as he likely won't be featured much by the team in the upcoming season.

“With Thomas future so uncertain, the Nets are unlikely to feature him as much as if they had signed him to a long-term contract and of course the Nets are once again in tank mode as they try to secure one of the top picks in the 2026 Draft.”

On paper, this entire situation has been mishandled by Thomas, and with inefficient scoring on a bad team likely not to translate to success in the NBA, his entire future is up in the air after signing the one-year qualifying offer.
