Michael Porter Jr. Makes Claim to be the Second Best Shooter in the NBA
Sep 4, 2025
Michael Porter Jr. was traded by the Denver Nuggets this off-season, and ever since that point, he's been on a roll with ridiculous takes and comments. Some of them are harmful, but most have simply been idiotic takes, and his latest one may have been the worst of the latter.
In a recent interview, Porter Jr. opened up on his shooting abilities, and not one to lack confidence, he noted that he believes he's the second best shooter in the NBA, behind only the greatest shooter the game has ever seen.
“Stephen Curry, that’s the only one I’m giving like a clear elite, can shoot better than me.”
Last season, Porter Jr. shot 39.5% from three on 6.4 attempts per game, ranking him 47th in the league in shooting percentage from beyond the arc. Players ahead of him include Seth and Steph Curry, Zach Lavine, Malik Beasley and Norman Powell among others, showing that perhaps he doesn't rank as high as he suggested.

Still, confidence is one of the most important things for an athlete at any level, and as he comes to Brooklyn to land a much bigger role within the team, he'll need that if he and the Nets are to have any level of success in 2025/26.
Now, with more responsibility and defensive attention, we'll wait to see if Porter Jr. can be as good as he believes, as he now has the opportunity to expand his game and show off what we didn't see during his time with the Nuggets.
