Oklahoma City Star Jalen Williams Out Indefinitely With Hamstring Injury
Jan 19, 2026
The Oklahoma City Thunder have been the NBA's best team once again in 2025–26, and while they went through a bit of a slump, they recently bounced back with a five-game winning streak. Sitting at 35–8 on the season, if this team can stay healthy for the rest of the year, there's no doubting that they will once again be seen as NBA title favorites heading into the postseason.
However, they've recently suffered a potentially brutal loss, with two-way star Jalen Williams now classified as 'out indefinitely' by the team after suffering a right hamstring strain.
As of right now, it's not expected that Williams will miss the remainder of the season, but given how much of a burden has been placed on the shoulders of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander thus far in 2025–26, this will only put more responsibility on the MVP. In 24 games played this season, Williams is averaging 17 points, 5 rebounds, and 6 assists per game, and given the physical defense he plays, he's a crucial part of any success for this Thunder squad.

Without Williams in the lineup, OKC will turn to Alex Caruso, Cason Wallace, and Aaron Wiggins to fill that hole until Williams can get healthy and return. Ultimately, for the Thunder to go back-to-back in 2026, they will need Williams as healthy as possible, and with months left in the regular season, the team will give him as much time as he needs to get back to 100%.
