Kevin Durant Becomes The NBA's Sixth Greatest Scorer Of All-Time
Jan 19, 2026
Ever since the moment he stepped into the NBA, Kevin Durant has been an elite scorer, spending the better part of the last two decades proving it on a nightly basis. Whether it's with Oklahoma City, Golden State, Brooklyn, Phoenix, or now Houston, he has proven time and time again that he can consistently put together a 25 PPG season on a yearly basis.
Through 1,160 games played across his career, Durant has tallied 31,562 points, and following his latest performance, he officially passed Dirk Nowitzki as the NBA's sixth all-time leading scorer.
Next up on the NBA's all-time leaderboard is Michael Jordan, who posted 32,292 points across his career, and given that many believe Durant has several years left in the league, it's likely that he'll crack the top five moving forward. Beyond that are Kobe Bryant, Karl Malone, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and LeBron James, and while the top two may be out of reach, Durant has proven himself to be enough of a star that he could potentially end up in the top three.

Despite being 37 years of age, Durant is still averaging 26 points a night on 51 percent shooting from the field, and given that he's played in 38 of the team's 40 games, he's still relatively healthy given his injury history. Ultimately, wherever KD ends up, he'll forever be remembered as one of the NBA's all-time greatest scorers, and with the top five in sight, he's likely to end up there in the coming years if he can stay healthy.
