Doc Rivers Reveals What He Thinks Giannis Wants Next Season

Everyone around the NBA is trying to guess what Giannis Antetokounmpo wants. There have been so many rumors and so much back and forth on whether Giannis wants to be traded or stay on the Bucks, and nobody seems to know what Giannis will do this offseason.

When asked about what Giannis wants for next season, Doc Rivers gave a candid answer.

“Oh, boy. Um, I don't know. Uh, and we talk probably more than anyone. Um, you know, Dan, it's a tough one because he has done such a great job here in Milwaukee, right? And yet he still wants to win a title. And clearly, we have to do a better job here with our roster to make that even look like a possibility. And if we can't do that, then he's going to look outward. And so I think that's a two-fold answer. I think one, if we had all the pieces here, I have no doubt he’d want to stay here. But we don’t. And so that puts him in a tough spot.”

Giannis has said that he wants to stay in Milwaukee, but that he wants even more to compete for another NBA championship. With the team currently around him and the Bucks' assets available to upgrade the roster, things are looking grim.

The Bucks probably won’t be able to make any moves that would actually make them legitimate contenders. Because of that, Giannis is probably going to ask for a trade this summer. It’s sad to see a superstar leave their longtime home, but if winning is what Giannis wants, he has to go.
