Jaylen Brown Addresses Potentially Playing For His Hometown Atlanta Hawks One Day
Sep 12, 2025
Since arriving in the NBA, Jaylen Brown has consistently been one of the best players in the league, solidified by his Finals MVP performance back in 2024. Throughout that time, he's represented the Boston Celtics well, and after signing a monster five-year, $304 million deal, it appeared as though he'd be with the team throughout his career.
However, in a recent interview, Brown was asked about potentially playing for his hometown Atlanta Hawks one day, keeping the door open for a potential move down the line.
“You never know…we’ll see.”
According to Brown, his grandma has tried to convince him to come home, and with the deal being up after the 2028/29 season, he'll still have plenty of good years left when he enters free agency once again. Over his career, Brown has averaged an impressive 19.0 points, 5 boards and 3 assists, and while he may not be the best player in the NBA or even on his team, he's perfected his role with the Celtics.

While Brown will hit free agency in three more years, that doesn't rule out the Hawks making a push for him now, but at the current point in time, it's unclear just how interested they are in him given the Trae Young contract situation they're dealing with.
Ultimately, Brown would be a fantastic fit for this team, and given the hometown, family connection that he has with Georgia, they Hawks will no doubt be a top contender to land him in free agency if he gets that far.
