Damian Lillard Reveals His Plan For the 2025/26 Regular Season
Sep 29, 2025
Two years ago, Damian Lillard was traded by the Portland Trail Blazers, acquired by the Milwaukee Bucks in the hopes that he could help bring another title to the team alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo. Unfortunately, in his final game with Milwaukee, Lillard suffered a brutal Achilles tear, leading to the team waiving him to add Myles Turner in free agency.
Unsurprisingly, Portland was one of the first teams to call their former All-NBA point guard in free agency, and quickly, the two sides came to a deal as Dame was finally home. With the injury, however, there were question marks over whether he'd play with them in 2025/26, and now, he's put any speculation of potentially playing this regular season to bed.
"I don't plan on it. I feel like if this team is a 1 seed [without me], they probably got it. I'm trying to be as healthy as possible."
Following such a brutal leg injury, Lillard is clearly focused on getting back to 100%, and at 35 years of age, that may take a little longer than it would have in the past few years.

When healthy this past year, Lillard still averaged 25 a night, and if he can do that for a Blazers team in 2026/27 when he returns, this could be a very fun team to watch. For now, though, Blazers fans will be waiting a long time to see their star guard back on the court, but given the love they've got for him, he'll have their support the entire way.
