NBA Insider Reveals Lakers Refusal To Include Two Intriguing Role Players in Trade Talks
Aug 11, 2025
The Los Angeles Lakers have been making moves in recent years, with the team landing Luka Doncic at the 2025 trade deadline as they completely transformed the future of the organization. This offseason has been a little quieter despite speculation on several role players, with the team reportedly not looking to make any major moves ahead of the new season.
That comes from reporter Sean Deveny, who also reveals that the Lakers have no interest in moving either Gabe Vincent or Jarred Vanderbilt in potential trade talks.
“Still, the feeling around the Lakers is that the team is pretty much set as it is, and that no major trades are forthcoming until the season gets rolling. The Lakers have had opportunities to include the likes of Gabe Vincent and Jarred Vanderbilt in trade packages already, but have declined to do so.”

With the moves they've already made, the Lakers have some of the best depth in the NBA, with Doncic, LeBron James, Vanderbilt, Vincent, Austin Reaves, Rui Hachimura, and Marcus Smart, among others. Some fans, however, don't think the team should rule out moving some role players to find an impact player either off the bench or in the starting lineup, but as of right now, they appear content with the roster the way it's constructed.
This report may not rule out the team looking to use significant assets for an upgrade during the 2025-26 season, but as of right now, the Lakers' roster appears locked in for the summer, with the team eyeing another NBA title in 2026.
