Report: Multiple Teams Looking to Acquire Angel Reese
Sep 16, 2025
Two years into her stint with the Chicago Sky, Angel Reese has gone from the franchise’s top star to a disgruntled member of the locker room. It’s no surprise, then, that her name has come up in trade speculation with the WNBA offseason approaching.
As per Ashish Mathur of Dallas Hoops Journal, Reese is being eyed by multiple WNBA teams as a prized addition for the 2026 season. Mathur also reported that the Sky organization itself “could attempt to trade Reese this offseason.”
Whether or not the Sky front office makes the first call to get these trade talks started, there’s no denying that the dynamic with the two-time All-Star has drastically changed after her controversial Chicago Tribune interview.
In a piece published by Julia Poe on Sept. 3, Reese blasted the Sky organization, saying that she would not be “settling for the same s*** we did this year.” The 6-foot-3 forward urged the Sky to get “great” players and went on to publicly call out teammates like Courtney Vandersloot and Rachel Banham.
Following these fiery comments, the Sky suspended Reese during the first half of their Sept. 7 matchup with the Las Vegas Aces. Then, prior to the team’s season finale against the New York Liberty, Reese was allegedly spotted in street clothes and not participating in the Sky’s practice session.

This contentious situation has naturally led to speculation that Reese could be playing for a different WNBA team by the time the 2026 season rolls around. According to David Suggs of The Sporting News, there are four teams that could make sense as landing spots for the incoming third-year pro.
In the Eastern Conference, Suggs identified the Washington Mystics and Atlanta Dream as possible destinations. On the one hand, the Mystics have draft assets that could entice the Sky to make a deal; on the other hand, the Dream could be looking to get younger in the frontcourt as Brittney Griner turns 35 next month.
Suggs also speculated that Reese could be headed to the Western Conference. He named the Dallas Wings and the Seattle Storm as two teams to keep an eye on, with the Wings offering the unique prospect of a team-up with Paige Bueckers.
The WNBA playoffs are set to dominate headlines over the next few weeks, but amidst the action of the postseason, negotiations to sign the extremely talented Reese could be getting underway.
