De'Anthony Melton Injury Update Could Be Difference Maker for Contending Team
Sep 29, 2025
The Golden State Warriors are set for a reunion with De’Anthony Melton. Last season, he only played six games with the team before getting injured and missing the rest of the season. The Warriors were forced to trade him to the Brooklyn Nets in an attempt to improve their backup point guard.
The thing is, when Melton was healthy, he looked like the perfect Warrior. When he was in the Warriors lineup, it seemed as if the team couldn’t lose. His shooting and defense were exactly what they needed to put next to Stephen Curry.

Now, a recent piece of Warriors news has provided some optimism about Melton’s return next season. According to Monte Poole, a Warriors insider, Melton has been working out at the Chase Center, and people believe he is “progressing well” from last year’s injury.
This is huge news for the Warriors. If they can get a relatively healthy season from Melton this year, they could find themselves with a decent chance at title contention.
A healthy Melton gives the Warriors two things they desperately need. A point of attack defender in the backcourt and a shooter to help space the floor. Melton also showed in his limited time on the court that he had great chemistry with the Warriors' starting lineup.
Another reason this Warriors-Melton signing is ideal is that they are going to get him for cheap. Getting a player coming off an ACL injury is a low-risk, high-reward scenario for the Warriors. If he is behind schedule in recovering or re-aggravates the injury, he won’t be costing them much money. If he is healthy and has the breakout season we were expecting from him last year, he will be on one of the best contracts in the NBA.
