Bruce Brown Reveals How Quickly He Realized He Wanted to Leave the Toronto Raptors
Sep 29, 2025
Bruce Brown was a key piece of the Denver Nuggets’ 2023 NBA Championship run, but departed the team soon after, signing with the Indiana Pacers in free agency. That run there didn't last long, however, as he was swiftly traded to the Toronto Raptors in a deal that saw the team land All-NBA forward Pascal Siakam.
Now, this offseason, he's returned to the place where he finally found a home in the NBA, signing with the Nuggets to play a key role off the bench once more. On Media Day, he officially addressed his short-lived stint in Toronto, revealing how quickly he knew he wanted to get out of there to return to the Denver Nuggets.
“As soon as I got to Toronto, I thought about coming back to Denver right away.”
Brown doesn't state exactly how long it took him to start thinking about a return to Denver, only stating that it happened as soon as he arrived in Toronto, and now, the veteran forward has finally gotten his wish.

Between Toronto and New Orleans a year ago, Brown averaged a solid 8 points a night through 41 games played, and on top of great athleticism and solid defense, he's the perfect bench piece for this Nuggets team. With Denver adding Cam Johnson, Brown, and Jonas Valanciunas this offseason, the team once again appears to be a genuine title contender, and with Brown getting his wish, now is his chance to show why he's such a great bench player.
