NBA Executive Reveals Why The Heat Won't Trade Andrew Wiggins to the Lakers

Over the past few weeks, rumors have been heating up that the Los Angeles Lakers are looking to acquire a two-way wing, with Miami Heat star Andrew Wiggins identified as their primary target. Alongside LeBron James and Luka Dončić, Wiggins would make the perfect third star as the Lakers look to push for yet another NBA Championship.

As of right now, however, the Heat have pushed back on speculation, noting that they have no interest in moving Wiggins at this point in time. Now, an anonymous NBA executive has likely revealed the reason why, noting that Pat Riley doesn't want to help LeBron James, given their history, and noting that Riley is still mad James left Miami.

“I would be stunned if Pat did this trade. You really think Pat wants to help LeBron [James]? He’s still mad about LeBron leaving Miami. I don’t see it happening.”

Given what the Lakers have to offer, it's unclear if this is the only reason why Riley won't trade Wiggins to the Lakers, but there's been no secret made of the rivalry between him and James since the latter left Miami to return to Cleveland. There are other options out there for the Lakers as well, but as of right now, they've only shown interest in Wiggins, with the team hoping that Riley will change his stance moving forward.

For now, Wiggins will remain with the Heat, and even if Riley does change his mind on dealing the two-way wing, it's very likely that the Lakers won't be a team he's willing to move him to.
