NBA Champ Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Recieves Special Honor in Hometown

This week, Oklahoma City Thunder superstar Shai Gilegeous-Alexander received the key to the city of Hamilton, Ontario, and also had a street named after him.

There was a time when it would be considered surprising that the very best player in the NBA would hail from Canada, but those days are over. The country's national team features stalwarts like Jamal Murray, Lugentz Dort, Andrew Wiggins, Bennedict Mathurin and R.J. Barrett.
The brightest star from Canada, however is Gilgeous-Alexander. He rose to the top of the heap this year by winning both the league's MVP award and the NBA Championship.
This week, the Oklahoma City Thunder star was honored in his hometown. He told the crowd in attendance:
"Hamilton is different from every other city in Ontario, Hamiltonians carry a different sense of grit, determination, pride and energy than the rest of the province and honestly, I couldn't shy away from that. I carry that with me every day and everywhere I go so you guys can only imagine how (much) overwhelming joy there was when I found out I was getting a key to the city I love and a street named after me."
The scary thing for the rest of the league is that Gilgeous-Alexander is getting better every year and he has a team around him the allows him to be the best version of himself.
The superstar wing player just turned 27 years-old in July and might not have even entered his career prime yet. By the time that runs out, he may have several more things named for him in Canada.
