Stephen A. Snith Thinks Nuggets Are Wasting Jokic's Prime

During a recent appearance on Gilbert Arenas' podcast, Stephen A. Smith opined that the Denver Nuggets are wasting Nikola Jokic's prime.

The Nuggets scored one of the biggest coups in NBA history when they drafted Nikola Jokic in the second round of the 2014 draft with the 41st pick. All the Serbian superstar has done since then is win three MVP Awards and an NBA Championship.

While the Nuggets have been consistently excellent since Jokic has been a member of the team, Stephen A. Smith thinks they can do better. Saying during the show that Jokic doesn't complain about roster moves, Smith said:

"I don't think Jokic because we've seen Jokic be phenomenal, winning league MVPs. First of all, what did you let go of, Bruce Brown for? What did you let go off Jeff Green for? Money! So you comprise Jokic's success. He still went out on the court and delivered, and you see him, walking around, I say it affectionately, looking like a big tub of lard, can't jump onto a curb and (yet) you can't stop him. It's unbelievable. I've just never seen anything like it."

The Western Conference is an absolute beast and teams have to be really careful about how they build their squads, especially in a salary-cap era. The team did make some changes this off-season, swapping Michael Porter Jr. for Cameron Johnson. The team also resigned Bruce Brown, who was a key player for the team in the past. Jokic will remain one of the best players in the NBA as long as he is active.
