Mario Chalmers Adds a Big 3 Championship Title to His Impressive Resume

Mario Chalmers won a Big 3 Championship title this weekend with Miami 305, adding yet another trophy to his impressive case.

Chalmers, who last played in the NBA, plays in the Big 3 League as a member of Michael Beasley's squad. On Sunday, Miami 305 notched a win over the Chicago Triplets by a score of 52-48. The Triplets also featured for NBA players Montrezl Harrell and Amir Johnson. It was Chalmers with the winning bucket as he sunk a late three to give his team the win.

Beasley lauded his teammate, saying:

"I actually told [Chalmers] to move. I wanted the shot. But no, he's been doing it his whole life, been doing it his whole career. Just trust. It ain't even really trust, it's just knowing what's going on. That's Mario Chalmers."

Chalmers winning ways began during his high school years at Barlett High School in Anchorage, Alaska. The point guard led his team to state championships in 2002 and 2003.

A massive recruit out of high school, Chalmers chose to attend Kansas, helping the school to win the 2008 NCAA National Championship. He was also named the Most Outstanding Player for the tournament.

Chalmers was drafted in the second round of the 2008 NBA Draft by the Miami Heat. Despite his draft status, he was an immediate starter for the team which eventually brought in LeBron James and Chris Bosh. The Heat would go on to win NBA titles in 2012 and 2013. Chalmers last played in the NBA with the Memphis Grizzlies in 2018.
