WATCH: Yao Ming Explains Why Philly is His Favorite American City

During an interview with Kyle Kuzma of the Milwaukee Bucks, Yao Ming revealed that Philadelphia was his favorite American city because of a certain sandwich.

The former NBA Superstar was speaking with Kuzma about his career when the power forward asked why Ming's favorite city in the U.S. was Philadelphia. He replied

"Uhhh.. the cheesesteak. And I like museums. Chicago has good museums, too, but Philadelphia has a museum. Good museum, and also the Navy factory defending all the ocean, that's kind of a museum too. Cuttino Mobley was with me for my first year. That's why. He's from there and {told me to] try the cheesesteak."

A seven-foot-six phenom from Shanghai, Ming was selected first overall by the Houston Rockets in the 2002 NBA Draft. The affable Chinese center was able to make fast friends with Steve Francis and Cuttino Mobley as he adjusted to both living in the U.S. and playing in the NBA.

Ming had plenty of success on the basketball court, too. He was named to the NBA All-Star team eight times, and he made five All-NBA squads. While the center was dominant when he was on the court, he also struggled with injuries that would eventually end his career in 2011 when he was still just 30 years old.

Inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2016, Ming was has stayed active with several different interests. He has been involved in both charitable and conservation efforts, and he served as a member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
