Point Guard Malcolm Brogdon Connected to Several Contenders

Malcolm Brogdon remains an NBA free agent but is likely to end up in a good situation, as several contenders are reportedly interested in him.

During his final season at Virginia, Brogdon was named the ACC Player of the Year, the ACC Defensive Player of the Year, and a consensus First Team All-American. Despite those accolades, he lasted until the second round of the 2016 NBA Draft.

He proved the league wrong right away as he won the 2017 Rookie of the Year Award. Since then, he has played for several teams, always providing serious scoring punch off the bench. He was named 6th Man of the Year in 2023 while a member of the Boston Celtics.

Brogdan has made some serious money during his career, $132 million according to Spotrac. That should allow him to take a lower-value deal this season so he can play for a contender. And most of them are showing some interest in them, though they may not all be offering the same thing.

The New York Knicks have been linked to Brogdon as they only have Tyler Kolek as a true backup point guard. The Knicks also have Deuce McBride and Jordan Clarkson, however, and may not be able to offer many minutes.

The Golden State Warriors have also shown interest, though the team is seemingly waiting to see what happens with Jonathan Kuminga.

Also linked to Brodgon were the Clippers and Lakers though those teams signed Chris Paul and Marcus Smart so may not have enough minutes either.
