Klay Thompson Reveals His Advice For Dallas Mavericks Rookies

Klay Thompson has been a star in the NBA for a long, long time, and now, despite the injury to Kyrie Irving, he's a key piece of a Dallas Mavericks team that believes they can do something special in 2025/26. To do so, they'll rely on 2025 No. 1 overall pick Cooper Flagg, and with spaces open for other young names to play a role, this team will have some good balance.

While Flagg has no doubt heard unlimited pieces of advice over the past few years heading into his high profile rookie year, Thompson has now revealed his advice for Flagg and the rest of the Mavericks rookies as the new season draws near.

“All the rookies, I tell them: be loud, communicate, play with great effort, and have a great attitude. You're going to miss shots, make shots, you're going to make mistakes. But if you do those things, you're going to fulfill your potential and that's what being a pro is.”

On paper, it's very simple, easy-to-follow advice for rookies and young NBA players, and if there's anyone they should be modeling their careers on, Thompson is a fantastic source of inspiration for those young players.

Thompson may not be the player he once was, but as a leader, there are very few better in the NBA, and if not only the rookies, but his young teammates as well can follow his advice and his lead, there's plenty of success ahead for the Dallas Mavericks.
