Jimmy Butler Reveals True Feelings On Anthony Davis-Luka Doncic Trade

Even though it happened months ago, the NBA is still reeling from the Anthony Davis–Luka Doncic trade. It’s been thoroughly discussed just how crazy this trade was, but we may not know the real impact until this season.

Last year, Luka and the Lakers never fully got to gel together. Luka was kind of injured, kind of out of shape, and the team didn’t fully figure out how to maximize his skillset. This season, all signs are pointing to Luka’s body and mind being fully prepared to dominate the NBA once again.

How the rest of the league feels about the Luka trade is very interesting. What they feel about the trade now that they are preparing to face a much more formidable Lakers team this season is also interesting. That’s why when Jimmy Butler was asked for his thoughts on the Luka trade, everyone listened.

“I thought it was fake like everybody else… I just always thought when you used the word ‘untradeable,’ ‘untouchable,’ you’d think Luka Dončić is one of those guys, honestly. I don’t know. It don’t got too much with me. I’m still just… I was baffled by it. I’m still baffled by it. It just doesn’t look right… There’s always more to it… You don’t know what’s really going on behind closed doors.”

Despite being a long-time NBA veteran and star, Butler is just like the rest of us. Even months later, he can’t comprehend why the Dallas Mavericks would trade Luka Doncic.

He also added that there is undoubtedly more to the Luka trade than meets the eye. Butler knows better than anyone that locker-room issues and behind-the-scenes relationships can have a huge impact on both a player and an organization.

So while Butler didn’t imply that he is any more afraid of Luka now that he is on the Lakers, he still is shocked by the situation altogether.
