Ja Morant Addresses Recent Trade Speculation
Jan 19, 2026
Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies have been one of the biggest stories in the NBA thus far in 2025–26, with many believing the former No. 2 overall draft pick is on his way out the door following a disastrous, injury-riddled season. We've seen tensions rising significantly throughout the year, and with plenty of teams in the league interested in him, it appears to be a matter of when, not if, a deal gets done.
However, the interest hasn't raised the price significantly for the Grizzlies, with many believing the team may not even get a first-round pick in exchange for him at this point in time. After all this talk, Morant has finally addressed his situation in Memphis, stating that he's a very loyal guy and that it's obvious where he wants to be.
"Everybody in here who knows me knows I'm a very loyal guy. I got a logo on my back, and that should tell you where I want to be."
Given his body language at times, many believed he wanted out, but given that he's not yet officially made the request, he could potentially be staying in Memphis moving forward, which would come as a surprise to most around the NBA.

Ultimately, whatever Memphis and Morant decide to do could change the entire landscape of the NBA, but given how Morant professed his loyalty and his relationship with the likes of Jaren Jackson Jr., he may end up staying long-term after all.
