Anonymous Executive Believes The 76ers Can Move On From Paul George and Joel Embiid Because Of Two Young Stars
Nov 28, 2025
The Philadelphia 76ers have been one of the most promising teams in the Eastern Conference for quite some time, but despite having MVP Joel Embiid, they're yet to move past the first round of the NBA Playoffs. Then, last summer, the team acquired Paul George to aid in their efforts, but given the health issues of both players, they were greatly disappointed, with the future of both players in question.
Now, the Sixers have seen some bright young stars emerge in Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe, who have both helped this team get off to a much better start this season with a record of 9–8. That has been something that opposing teams have taken notice of, as an anonymous Western Conference executive has now stated that he believes the team can move on from their veterans as a result of the two young stars.
“Give them the ability to move on from the Embiid and George era.”
This is something that many have speculated on after their start to the 2025–26 season, and while they'd need to replace both veterans, this team is now clearly led by the likes of Maxey, Edgecombe, Jared McCain, and Quentin Grimes.

As of right now, the team isn't likely to move on from Embiid or George, but if their young stars continue their ascent, it's a matter of when, not if, the front office hands the keys to their young backcourt to lead this 76ers team into the future.
