Sacramento Kings GM Reportedly Desperate To Move One Key Veteran

The Sacramento Kings were one of the NBA's most exciting teams just a few short seasons ago, but now, things have all come crashing down, with the team making some surprising moves in that time. Instead of building around their young talent, the Kings decided to make this veteran-heavy team their identity, and with a 5–14 record in their first 19 games, it's clearly not working either.

That's led to plenty of speculation around this current group, with reports now revealing that they are open to moving several of their key veterans. Now, according to a report, General Manager Scott Perry is 'desperate' to trade Zach LaVine, with the Kings likely to get a very good return for the star guard.

It's unclear exactly why Perry is so desperate to move LaVine in comparison to other veterans like DeMar DeRozan or Domantas Sabonis, but the Kings are clearly now motivated to do so. In 2025–26, LaVine leads the Kings in scoring with 20 points a game alongside three rebounds and two assists per game, showing that while he can still get it done, he's clearly slowed down after being a 25+ point per game scorer in the recent past.

Given the desperation behind the motivation to move LaVine, it's unclear why the organization pushed so hard to acquire him in the first place, but if the Kings are truly set to blow it up, expect LaVine, DeRozan, and Sabonis, among others, to all be moved in the coming months.
