5 WNBA Players Who Could Earn $1 Million Contracts Per Season

After 17 months of negotiations, the WNBA and its players' union reached a new collective bargaining agreement this week. In the opinion of many, it is long overdue. The new deal raises the salary cap from $1.5 million to $7 million per team and introduces a supermax contract worth $1.4 million, nearly six times what the previous top salary offered. So who's cashing in at seven figures? Here are five players set to earn a million-dollar paycheque.

A'ja Wilson (Las Vegas Aces)

Wilson is the obvious first choice to see a justifiable increase in salary. Four MVPs, three championships, and Wilson was making $400,000 last season. Now she's projected to land the full $1.4M supermax, a raise of roughly 250%. If there is any current WNBA player whose resume demanded a landmark contract, it's hands down the league’s best player.

Breanna Stewart (New York Liberty)

Another lock for the supermax, Stewart made just $208,000 in 2025. A three-time WNBA champion, two-time Finals MVP, and two-time league MVP, Stewart brought basketball titles to both Seattle and New York, cities that have been seeking a championship for decades. If anyone can give Wilson a run for her money as the league’s best player, it is Stewart.

Napheesa Collier (Minnesota Lynx)

Collier has been one of the best players in the league for years, quietly building an All-WNBA résumé while earning $184,000. She's projected to hit the new "Veteran Max" tier at around $1.22 million. Averaging a career high 22.9 points while adding 7.3 rebounds and 3.2 assists last season, the only trophy missing from Collier’s cabinet is a WNBA championship.

Sabrina Ionescu (New York Liberty)

Ionescu is another Veteran Max candidate projected at $1.22 million. The Liberty's floor general has become one of the most marketable players in the sport, on and off the court. A NBA champion, four-time All-Star, and four-time All-WNBA member, Ionescu is one of the best point guards in the game. Known for her long-range shooting touch and creative ball handling, Ionescu helped the Liberty win its first WNBA championship in 2024.

Jewell Loyd (Las Vegas Aces)

Loyd has spent years as one of the most underappreciated players in the league, if that is possible for a six-time All-Star. After spending the first ten years of her career in Seattle, winning a pair of WNBA titles, Loyd was traded to Las Vegas, where she helped the Aces earn a third championship, while earning just $246,000. Projected to land around $1.1 million under the Veteran Max tier, Loyd's payday is a long time coming for a player who has been one of the best combo guards in the league.
