Zion Williamson's MVP odds improved after Physical Transformation Reveal
Sep 25, 2025
Coming into the NBA as the No. 1 overall pick back in 2019, Zion Williamson was considered a generational talent, but to this point, he's failed to live up to those expectations for numerous reasons with the Pelicans. When healthy, Williamson has been an absolute star in the NBA, but given his weight issues, he's failed to stay healthy for a significant stretch with New Orleans.
However, he recently revealed a tremendous physical transformation, one that has the NBA on notice that, finally, superstar Zion Williamson may have arrived. Betting trends seem to reflect that, as several betting outlets have now seen Williamson climb into the top 10 in MVP candidates, given his weight loss.
Even with his weight issues, Williamson has averaged 25, 7, and 4 across 214 games with the Pelicans, but after playing in just 30 games a season ago, he'll need to prove that he can stay healthy before he becomes a true MVP candidate. Now, with the team around him thriving with the likes of Trey Murphy III and Herb Jones, this is an organization truly built around Zion, and if he can play 70 or more games, this may be his breakout year.

Williamson has undoubtedly had MVP-caliber talent from the moment he stepped foot in the NBA, but in his career in New Orleans, we've yet to see him at his healthiest and strongest, and with this new weight loss, Pelicans fans and the organization have never been more confident in him.
