Tyrese Maxey Makes Philadelphia 76ers Franchise History

Back in the 2020 NBA Draft, the Philadelphia 76ers used their No. 21 overall pick on young guard Tyrese Maxey, with the hopes that one day he could become a solid role player. His career started off well, but in the last 18 months, he's taken a leap to stardom, and with a career high of 29 points a game thus far in 2025/26, he's showing that he can not only be a good player, but he can be an All-Star caliber player for years to come.

With Maxey and VJ Edgecombe, this is a back court that's set for a long time in Philadelphia, but in Maxey, the team have a player that's exceeded any and all expectations placed upon him when he entered the league. At just 25-years of age, he's now proven it again, as he has made Sixers history, becoming the teams all-time leader in three pointers made, despite just five years of experience in the league.

When hitting his 886th three, Maxey passed arguably the franchise's G.O.A.T. in Allen Iverson, surpassing him in threes made in a ridiculous 375 games, which was 343 games quicker than AI achieved the feat.

Sure, the game has changed a lot since Iverson's days with the Sixers, as the three has become more important than ever thanks to the likes of Steph Curry, but given how quickly he's made history in Philadelphia, Maxey is shaping up to be an all-time great for this franchise.
