Shams Charania Reveals Positive Injury Update on Philadelphia 76ers Star Joel Embiid

The past few seasons, Joel Embiid has struggled to stay on the floor, but when he's healthy, he's put together some very impressive performances for the Philadelphia 76ers. In 2025/26, the team is getting elite-level play from the backcourt trio of Tyrese Maxey, VJ Edgecombe, and Quentin Grimes, so if Embiid can be healthy, this is a team that could be a major threat in the Eastern Conference.

However, Embiid is once again under an injury cloud following a recent MRI, although ESPN's Shams Charania has revealed a very positive update. According to Charania, the recent MRI of Embiid's knee came back negative, meaning that he is cleared of any serious injury, with the team considering him day-to-day moving forward.

Out of a possible 11 games this season, Embiid has appeared in a solid six of those, averaging 20 points and six boards in that time, and while it's not the MVP level we've become accustomed to, he's just looking to stay healthy and productive.

This is a Sixers team that's battling many injuries too, with Jared McCain and Paul George both missing time already in 2025/26, but in Embiid, they have a player who needs to be healthy if they are to succeed. Unfortunately, the injuries just won't stay away from the former MVP, and given the positive outcome of this MRI, the hope around the league is that he can finally get through a season for a team that is showing so much promise.
